I interviewed for the assistant town manager position last week, meeting with the mayor, the town manager, and an HR consultant. They planned to finish interviews by Friday, and I was told to expect news by Monday or possibly Friday. I sent thank you emails right after the interview and followed up with the HR consultant on Monday, but I received no response. Later that night, during a town council meeting, the mayor mentioned extending an offer to a candidate, but it was unclear if it was already done or would happen soon. Now it's Tuesday, and I still haven't heard anything. I'm starting to think I might be a back-up choice if their first pick doesn’t work out. It's really stressful, especially since I have two other interviews lined up for Wednesday, but this position was my top choice.
