I recently accepted a contract job at a large company after three months of job hunting. During this time, I became more selective with my applications but also took on any suitable inbound opportunities, even if they weren't my ideal work. An external recruiter reached out to me about a long-term contract role that, while not my preferred type of work, was with a reputable company. The hiring process moved quickly, and I accepted the offer just as three other companies I was interviewing with also began to progress, including final rounds scheduled for the same week I was set to start the contract job. I decided to take the contract position because my financial runway is limited, even though I have some options in the pipeline that align better with my career goals. However, I'm feeling conflicted about potentially having to leave the contract role early if one of the other companies makes me an offer. I liked my interviewers and don’t want to come off as unprofessional or risk being blacklisted if a more suitable role opens up at the contract company in the future. I'm reaching out to see if anyone has navigated a similar situation and how they handled it.
