I have been on the job hunt for over a year now, primarily focusing on Social Services positions within state government and local nonprofits. Unfortunately, I've only received a handful of interviews, which has me questioning whether there's something wrong with my resume. I have a significant gap in my work history—about six years—so I understand that could be a factor. To make my application more appealing, I've been trying to highlight my experience working with international clients to demonstrate my ability to engage with diverse populations, as many job descriptions emphasize this. Additionally, I’m incorporating my English degree to showcase my archival skills and my previous role in Medical Administration, where I handled confidential documents and provided client support. Despite these efforts, the low number of interviews has me feeling stuck. I’m considering advice I’ve received about revising my resume structure, such as consolidating my teaching experience and potentially volunteering to gain more recent relevant experience. I’m eager to improve my application and would appreciate any feedback on how to better present my qualifications.
