I've been on the job hunt since May, focusing on securing a senior software engineering role. With 7 years of experience across three different positions and an internship, I thought I would have a smoother time finding a new opportunity. However, the current market for software jobs feels pretty rough. I've had a couple of close calls—one was with a company I was really excited about, but I didn't perform well in the technical interview. The other opportunity was also promising, but I was hesitant about the long commute, and ultimately, someone more qualified took the position after I made it to the final round.
