I started a new job two months ago, but the work environment has been extremely toxic, and I'm eager to leave as soon as possible. Before this, I spent nearly four years at my previous job. Currently, I haven't listed this new position on my LinkedIn or resume, though I did update my last job to reflect my end date. I'm contemplating whether I should be honest in interviews about being currently employed. Should I mention it in my "tell me about yourself" response, or only if they specifically ask about my employment status? I'm concerned that not including this job on my resume might raise red flags, especially since I'm looking to leave so quickly. I worry that if I don’t disclose it, they might find out during a background check. Plus, if I resign, I’ll need to give my current employer notice. I've received some advice suggesting that this situation isn't considered job hopping since many people take roles that don’t turn out to be a good fit. They recommend being honest without disparaging my current employer and explaining that I'm seeking a position that aligns better with my long-term career goals. However, some suggest that if leaving this job off my resume increases my chances of being interviewed, it might be worth considering.
