I’m currently in a tough spot with my job search. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from a reputable university and spent a couple of years in finance before transitioning to the manufacturing industry. For the past four years, I worked at one of the largest aerospace manufacturing companies as an Inventory Specialist, eventually becoming a Production Planner. I managed returns for major customers and led a team of 25-30 people on the production floor, earning nearly six figures. Now, I find myself applying for warehouse roles that I am clearly over-qualified for, yet I'm struggling to even land interviews. When I do get an interview, it often feels like a formality, as if the company already has someone in mind for the position. My most recent interview was last Wednesday, and it was incredibly frustrating. I spent $50 on an Uber to get there because my truck was in the shop, arrived 30 minutes early, but ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes past my scheduled time. The manager didn’t acknowledge the delay and was quite rude, just reading questions from my application during the interview. I’m at a loss for what to do next. I would take any job at this point, even at McDonald’s. I’ve been without income for almost three months now, and as a recovering addict (clean for 18 months), my family refuses to provide any financial support. I’ve been living on ramen noodles for two weeks and am on the verge of eviction. It’s hard not to feel hopeless in this situation.
