I am currently a sous chef with five years of experience, but I’ve decided that I no longer want to pursue a career in the culinary field. At 23 years old, I’ve been working in a busy restaurant environment since I was 18, and while I earn a base salary of $60k per year with the potential to make up to $85k with bonuses, the long hours and high stress are taking a toll on me. For the past two years, I've been working over 70 hours a week, and I feel overwhelmed. I’m looking to transition into a new career that offers a slower pace and hopefully allows me to maintain a similar income. However, I’m struggling to figure out where to start since my entire professional experience has been in the kitchen. I have some college education but didn’t finish due to the demands of my job. I’m eager to find a role that provides a better work-life balance, ideally with weekends off. If anyone has suggestions or insights on how to make this career change successfully, I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thank you!
