I applied for a Project Manager I role at a hospital on July 14th and went through a grueling four-round interview process over the course of three months. In August, I was invited to complete a recorded video assessment, which had some pretty challenging questions. I must have done well because I moved on to the next stage. In September, I had a teams interview with the hospital's Director of Operations. It felt like it went well, so I was hopeful. Then in October, I had an in-person interview that was split into two parts with the PM team and the hospital's COO/VP. I really prepared for this final round—I studied extensively, watched countless YouTube videos, created note cards, and even built my own prep guide. After the interview, the director mentioned there would be one more round, which made me think I was close to landing the job. However, today I received a one-line email stating that the 'role is no longer available for consideration.' It felt so abrupt after investing so much time and effort. I have my PMP, a B.S. in Healthcare Administration, and relevant experience in hospitals, yet I'm still struggling to secure a position. Has anyone else experienced this many rounds only to receive such a generic rejection? This has really taken a toll on me.
