Today was my first day back at work after taking over a month off for mental health reasons due to work-related stress. My manager requested a meeting before I returned, and she expressed her shock and disappointment when I sent her my doctor’s note. During the meeting, she pressed me for details about what caused my stress and how she could help prevent it from happening again. I tried to explain that it wasn't just one thing, but rather a buildup of pressures that led to my need for a break. She also inquired about my mental health and any medications I'm on, claiming she had no prior knowledge of my situation. This experience has only reinforced my feelings of unhappiness in this job, and despite my efforts, I haven't had much luck finding a new position. I can't help but wonder if I overreacted by taking that month off.

I recently took a month off work due to stress related to my job in childcare. My doctor signed me off, and while my leave is ending soon, I’m feeling really anxious about returning. I’ve been applying for new jobs like crazy, but the market is tough right now, and I’m not confident I’ll find something before I have to go back. I know I want to quit my current job, but I don’t want to make a rash decision without a backup plan. The thought of going back after this break is terrifying, especially since I’m still dealing with mental health issues. I’m considering asking my doctor for an extension on my leave, but I’m worried that won’t help my situation either. I feel stuck and unsure about what to do next.

Today, I made the tough decision to quit my job in childcare, and I am feeling a mix of relief and terror. I've been working at this minimum wage position for a year, and it has taken a toll on my mental health. I recently started an apprenticeship at the same place, thinking it would help, but it only worsened my anxiety and depression. After a month of feeling burnt out and miserable, I went on holiday hoping for a fresh perspective, but I spent the entire trip anxious about the consequences of quitting. Tomorrow, I'm scheduled to go back to work, but I plan to call in sick instead. My intention is to get a doctor's note to cover my notice period and then officially resign. I know that if I show up, I will face harassment from my colleagues, which is something I want to avoid at all costs. The thought of calling in sick is daunting, but I need to prioritize my mental health over this job. I feel weak for letting them affect me this way, but I know I have to move on for my own well-being.
