Today, I decided to reach out to an old colleague of mine who is now a recruiter. It's been over five years since we last worked together, and while we follow each other on social media, I haven't really interacted with them much. I'm looking for some guidance on my resume and a job posting that I'm really interested in, but I'm unsure how to approach this. I was thinking about messaging them on LinkedIn since it’s job-related, but I also considered Facebook or Instagram because it feels more personal. I want to make sure I don’t come off as rude by just asking for a favor right away, especially since we haven’t kept in touch. I drafted a message that starts with a friendly greeting and then transitions into my request. I want to express that I genuinely care about how they’ve been, but I also need to be clear about my intentions. I hope to get their insights on my resume and any tips for the job application. It would mean a lot to me if I could land this job.
