I’m currently in my third and final year of college, and I’m feeling really down about being unemployed. This semester is less hectic than the previous ones, with only four courses instead of the usual seven or eight. During the four-month break between my second and third year, I tried to find a part-time job to help cover my tuition, but it was a miserable experience. I felt like a complete failure for not being able to secure even a basic position. My class schedule is pretty light; I have three-hour classes for two days and two three-hour classes on another day, leaving me with two days off. I’ve tailored my availability for day shifts since I can’t handle night shifts, which I worry limits my opportunities even more. I’m also open to working weekends. Despite my efforts, I haven’t received any rejection emails, which means I haven’t even had the chance to gain interview experience or job experience. This makes it even tougher to find entry-level or part-time work, especially since many of my peers are managing to juggle jobs alongside their studies. I’m starting to feel ashamed of my situation and wonder if I’m doing something wrong.
