  1. 1

On October 13, a recruiter reached out to me regarding a position I was interested in. After expressing my interest, I asked if she had any earlier availability for a call, but I didn’t receive a response. Her calendar seemed completely booked for an entire week. Finally, on the following Friday, she replied, mentioning her week was ‘hectic.’ I found it hard to believe she was too busy to respond to my scheduling inquiry. After selecting a time for our call, it took four days for her to confirm it. When we finally connected on Tuesday, she was five minutes late and proceeded to ask me several interview-style questions that felt more suited for a hiring manager. I answered everything promptly and professionally, providing relevant examples from my experience. Today, I received a rejection email stating they were moving forward with candidates who more closely matched the requirements. I have to say, this whole experience has been quite frustrating. The lack of professionalism throughout the process really bothers me. I mean, the recruiter reached out to me first, yet I had to follow up multiple times, wait days for confirmation, and didn’t even get a response to a simple question about scheduling. If my background wasn’t a match, that’s understandable, but I can’t help but wonder if my résumé was even reviewed before they contacted me. Should I provide feedback about this experience to the recruiter’s manager, or should I just let it go? I really wish recruiters would do better!
