I’m feeling a bit anxious about reaching out to my former supervisor for a reference as I prepare to apply for a new job. It’s been a few months since I left, and even though I believe she liked my work and would be happy to help, I’m nervous about contacting her after this time. I’ve drafted a message saying, "Hey, long time no talk. How's everything been going over there?" but I just can’t bring myself to send it. I know I need her as a reference, and I’m trying to convince myself that it’s not a big deal. I’ve read some advice suggesting I could just ask directly without needing to catch up first, which makes sense. I’m hoping that by sharing this, I can sort through my feelings and gain some clarity. Any thoughts?
