I just landed an internship in retail at a beauty store, which is a big step for me after four years of freelancing part-time. As a makeup artist, I thought freelancing would be my path, but I found it more challenging than rewarding. The constant search for clients left me feeling isolated, and working from home wasn't great for my mental health. While the pay isn't fantastic and the internship is only for six months, I'm relieved to finally have a job after such a long period of unemployment. I hope this experience will enhance my CV and help me secure better opportunities in the future. However, I'm feeling a mix of emotions. The job involves shifts, including weekends and late evenings, which I knew going in. I'm realizing that this will cut into my writing time and mean my cat will be home alone for long stretches. I think I'm mourning the freedom I had while freelancing, which is making it hard for me to fully embrace this new opportunity. Is it normal to feel this way about a new job?
