My husband was recently let go from a local family-owned mowing and landscaping business. He received his paycheck for the previous week, but it only reflected 6 hours of work, despite him actually working around 36 hours. He forgot to clock out on two days, but he has coworkers who can confirm his hours. When he approached his boss about the missing pay, he was told, "Well that’s all you’re getting paid," and later, when he went to clock out, his boss informed him he wouldn’t need to clock out because he wouldn’t be returning to the job. Now, we’re unsure of what steps to take next since they seem unwilling to address the issue of his unpaid wages. I’m looking for advice on who to contact regarding this situation, as it seems they have no intention of paying him for the hours he worked.
