I recently moved to the UK in 2024 on a spouse visa from Pakistan and have been struggling to find a job since then. Despite having around 5 years of work experience—4 years in teaching and 1.5 years as a quality control analyst in a pharmaceutical company—I haven't been able to secure a single interview. I hold a master's degree in biochemistry and a bachelor's degree in zoology. I've been applying for jobs relevant to my field, but I've also cast a wide net by applying for entry-level positions in restaurants, supermarkets, and retail stores, as I’m willing to start from the bottom to gain experience. Unfortunately, the job market in my area seems quite limited. I'm reaching out to anyone who has moved to the UK with overseas qualifications and work experience for advice. What strategies did you use to land your first job? I’m also wondering if my CV might be an issue, whether I should continue applying for entry-level jobs, if there are agencies that assist people in my situation, or if pursuing additional courses could help improve my chances.
