  1. 1

I recently experienced a demotion at my job as a dispatcher, and I strongly believe it was due to negative comments from my coworkers to management. I had been training for about 1.5 months, but I was informed that the training period typically lasts at least 6 months. My coworkers, who have been there longer, suggested that I should have started my training upstairs to grasp the basics before moving downstairs to planning. However, management insisted I train downstairs right away. The employees who were supposed to train me were mostly unhelpful, often telling me to ask questions but then getting frustrated and mocking me when I struggled. They even suggested I look for another job, which felt incredibly discouraging. Recently, I overheard that these same coworkers were telling management that I wasn't fit for the position. Just yesterday, my manager approached me and said they had no time to train me anymore and offered me a lower-paying role with fewer hours. I accepted it, thinking it was better than being nitpicked until I was let go. Now, I'm in a different department, hoping for a better experience with management. I'm considering whether to approach the Union about the toxic environment in my previous department or to voice my concerns in hopes of regaining my full-time hours. I really don't want to work with those negative coworkers again. If you were in my shoes, how would you handle this situation?
