I’m currently unemployed and feeling a bit disheartened about the job market. It seems like all the exciting roles have vanished, and I find myself struggling to find anything that sparks my interest or excitement. I know I shouldn't be picky, especially in this climate, but it’s hard not to notice how the landscape has changed. I remember my aunt working for an airline in the 90s, enjoying perks like heavily discounted flights and the thrill of travel. Now, I see job listings that feel uninspiring, like a tourism role that requires me to share my travel photos on an app for a mere 2% commission. It’s frustrating to think about how the nature of work has evolved. It feels mentally exhausting to navigate this new reality where many jobs require knowledge of multiple software programs, making it impossible to truly master any one thing. Plus, the expectation of having 5 years of experience for roles that could easily be learned on the job adds to the pressure. I guess I’m just venting about how challenging and draining it is to find fulfilling work these days.
