I was let go from my job today, and honestly, I feel defeated. This year has been tough; it's the second time I've been fired, and the role I held until this morning was the highest paying job I've ever had. They told me it just wasn't the right fit, and at 44 years old, I'm starting to worry that I might never find a job that feels like a good fit for me. The comments I read from others who have been in similar situations really resonated with me. One person mentioned how important it is to focus on getting back up after being knocked down, and I know that's what I need to do. The first two weeks after losing my job were incredibly hard; I was feeling depressed and turned to drinking too much. Thankfully, I've managed to quit drinking and even cut out caffeine, which has helped my anxiety and sleep improve. I'm determined to file for unemployment as soon as possible because I know that getting that approval will help me feel a bit better about my situation. I’ve also been thinking about how to improve my skills while I search for a new job. It’s tough, but I know I need to keep pushing forward. I hope to find something that suits me better soon.
