I have been working at a large pharmaceutical company for the past 6 years, and the stress has been overwhelming. The leadership in my department is questionable, which only adds to the relentless pressure I feel daily. I've developed health issues like a stomach ulcer and joint inflammation, which I attribute to the stress of my job. Despite my initial hopes that I would eventually feel comfortable and confident in my role, that feeling never came. Instead, I found myself drowning in responsibilities without the necessary experience or support. Although the pay is excellent, with a high salary, annual bonuses, and stock options, the stress has taken a toll on my well-being. I started looking for new opportunities about a year ago, aiming for a role with clearer expectations and a focus on my true passions. Recently, I accepted a new position at a smaller company that aligns with my career goals. The salary is slightly lower, and there are no stock options or significant bonuses, but the job expectations are clear, and I can work fully remote. Plus, it allows me to move closer to the city, which I have always wanted. Now, I'm preparing to give my notice at my current job, and I'm feeling anxious about it. I know my team will try to convince me to stay, and as a people pleaser, I worry about letting them down. I'm second-guessing my decision, wondering if I'm making a mistake by leaving a well-paying job for something that feels less financially rewarding. But I also know that my health and happiness are paramount. Am I weak for leaving, or is this the right move for my future?
