I need to vent about my job search frustrations. Lately, I've been hitting a wall with the feedback that I'm "overqualified" for the positions I apply for. It's disheartening to hear this, especially when I genuinely believe that these roles are the right fit for me. I have years of experience, and I thought that would be an asset, but it seems like companies are more worried that I won't stick around long-term. Honestly, when I was earlier in my career, I was always on the lookout for the next big opportunity, but now I’m seeking stability and a place where I can grow and contribute for the long haul. It's baffling to me that they think I would leave faster than someone just starting out. I get that they might think I'll get bored, but if I took the time to apply, it's because I know what I'm looking for. I can't help but wonder if "overqualified" is just a euphemism for something else. I’d love to hear from recruiters about this.
