I started my current job at a prison at the beginning of this year after being laid off from a job I loved almost three years ago. When my freelance work dried up, I moved back home with my parents, and there aren’t many job opportunities near my hometown that pay what I was making before. I knew this job would be an adjustment, but I genuinely hate going to work every day. I recognize that it’s more of a personal issue for me; I knew it wasn’t a good fit from the start. However, years of partial employment and uncertainty have changed my perspective on what I can tolerate. I realize I need to start figuring out my next steps, whether that means pursuing other certifications or going back to school. I'm struggling with this situation because I’ve never faced such financial and mental challenges before.
