I recently graduated high school in May 2026 and have been actively applying for jobs in Bakersfield, California since then. Despite my efforts, I haven't had much luck landing a position yet. With August here, I'm wondering if it's a good time to continue applying or if I should wait until September when more positions might open up as people leave for school. I've mostly focused on entry-level roles in retail and food service, and while I've had a few interviews, none have resulted in a job offer. I'm looking for advice from anyone familiar with the hiring landscape in Bakersfield or who has been in a similar situation. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
