As a contractor, I've recently been informed that the client I work for has switched providers, and the new company is based in India. This transition affects a large group of us, as the new company has over 30,000 employees. My current company sent us all dismissal letters, but they suggested we could continue working with the same client by joining the new company. The switch is set for November 1st. After a week and a half of silence from the new company, we finally received a generic email about the transition, asking for our availability to discuss joining them. We all responded promptly, expecting to set up meetings for the following week. However, they ghosted us for another week. Yesterday, I received a call from the same person who sent the email, and I could tell he was calling from their US headquarters. Unfortunately, I struggled to understand him due to his thick accent. I was on a long drive to pick up a friend from the airport, and I expressed my frustration about the timing of the call. We managed to set a day and time for next week, but I'm dreading the meeting. I can't help but wonder why they would assign someone with such a heavy accent to a hiring role. I really need this job, so I'm hoping for the best. Wishing everyone a good weekend.
