tax office · user consultant

I have an interview tomorrow for a user consultant position at the tax office, and I’m feeling a mix of excitement and dread. After so many disappointing job interviews and rejections, I found myself really hopeful when I got this opportunity. I wish I could just pause time and stay in this moment of anticipation, rather than face the potential disappointment that often follows. I’ve been applying for jobs for over seven years, and this is the first real interview I've landed this year. I clicked the 'handicapped' box on the application, which I think may have helped me get the interview, but now I’m worried that it’s just giving me false hope. I have the education for the role, but I lack the experience, and I can't shake the feeling that other candidates will have the upper hand. Tomorrow, I’m not just meeting a recruiter; I’ll be in front of the department leaders, and the thought of looking foolish in front of them is daunting. I tried to prepare by working on the case they provided, but the reality is sinking in that I might not stand a chance. I’ve done interview courses and revised my CV, but nothing seems to help. I feel like I need some small wins to boost my confidence before I can tackle interviews like this successfully. Right now, I’m just feeling the weight of being jobless after spending half a year in a temporary night shift role, which has left me feeling socially isolated.
