I finally landed a job after an exhausting search that started last November. After submitting hundreds of applications and going through three interviews, I got an offer at a job fair. I have five years of experience as a machine operator, but they offered me a different position instead. I accepted it, hoping to eventually move up to the operator role. Orientation started on Monday, and it raised a lot of red flags for me. They mentioned that nearly the entire third shift staff was fired, along with many from other shifts, and that most upper management and supervisors were gone too. This left the HR department overwhelmed, and I found it difficult to reach them since their desks always went to voicemail. The orientation was primarily conducted in Spanish due to the large number of Spanish-speaking workers, and I was the only one who couldn't understand it. Some questions were asked in Spanish without translation, which made me feel excluded. When we moved on to safety training, I was sent home because they didn’t have anyone available to show me the English safety training videos. HR promised to call me later to set it up, but I never received that call. I called them today and left a voicemail, but still no response. Tonight, I’m supposed to go in for training on the floor without having completed the safety training. While I have experience in a plant setting, this is a different environment with different products, so I’m feeling quite anxious about it. I can't help but feel there are significant red flags here. I'm still applying for other jobs, but this is the only offer I've received after months of searching. Just looking for some reassurance or advice.
