I had a second interview last Friday for a position assisting college leadership at a state university where I've worked in an admin role for over three years. While I'm a bit overqualified for this new role, I applied because it offers a small pay increase and potential for growth, despite the increased workload and stress. During the interview, everything seemed to go well until they mentioned that the person I would be supporting is interim and might not stay long-term, which made me anxious about job stability. The last part of the interview was frustrating as only one of the three interviewers showed up on time, and the atmosphere felt rushed. I’m now questioning whether to withdraw my application or wait for an offer to negotiate for higher pay and a guarantee of staying on my current campus. My current job is supportive, but raises are unlikely due to financial issues at the university. I sent a thank-you email after the interview but haven’t heard back in over a week, which adds to my uncertainty. I’m torn between trusting my gut and waiting to see if I get an offer.
