Today, I made the impulsive decision to put in my two weeks' notice at my job. I've been working as a high-volume outreach coordinator for a mobile dentist program, earning $20 an hour, and partnering with numerous schools. The workload has been overwhelming; I often take 400mg of caffeine pills just to keep up, and I stopped eating at work entirely this past month because I felt there was no time to spare. Despite accumulating a lot of overtime, I still can't seem to get everything done. Last week, I received feedback that I was underperforming, with complaints from dental teams about unconfirmed visits and other issues. I know that leaving now, especially with the job market being what it is, might not be the smartest move. I feel like I've lost leverage for future interviews, and I'm worried that I might regret this decision. However, I reached a breaking point today and felt completely overwhelmed. I wasn't sure if things would improve or just get worse. My manager did ask if I was certain about leaving or if there was anything she could do to help, which made me question my choice even more. I’m grappling with whether I made the right decision for my mental health or if I acted too rashly. I’ve seen some comments suggesting that prioritizing mental health is crucial, but I also know that financial stability is important. I plan to start looking for new opportunities immediately, but I can’t shake the anxiety of what comes next.
