I was recently laid off from my position at Equifax after just 27 days of employment. It came as a complete shock to me, as I had no prior warning or indication that my performance was lacking. During my short time there, I was trying to understand the organization and its culture, but I quickly noticed a significant amount of stress related to getting products to market without adequate testing. It seemed like they were rushing things, which led to potential issues with quality and user satisfaction. There was a lack of thorough testing protocols, and they didn't involve users or business clients in gathering requirements for testing. I felt that if I had the chance to stay, I could help improve these processes and add value to the team. However, the organization was not very process-driven, often opting for quick fixes rather than thorough solutions. I could see how this would lead to problems down the line, especially when dealing with subcontractors who didn't provide the necessary transparency or quality control. It was frustrating to think that Equifax employees would bear the brunt of any issues stemming from these subcontractor relationships. Despite being disappointed by the layoff, I feel relieved to be out of that chaotic environment, which I believe operated under the guise of being employee-friendly. It's disheartening to see how cutthroat the industry can be, but I know I need to keep pushing forward and find a role that aligns better with my values and work ethic.
