I have an interview tomorrow for a position that perfectly aligns with my niche skill set, which involves working in a retail environment with hourly pay. The job listing mentions a pay range of $23 to $26 per hour. I believe that given my ten years of experience in this field, I am worth the higher end of that range, specifically $26. I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach the topic of pay during the interview. Should I directly reference the pay range I saw in the job posting and say something like, "I believe the posted range was $23 to $26, correct? Given my extensive experience and skills, I think $26 is a fair expectation." I want to sound confident but also humble. I'm considering asking them what their range is first, but I also want to be prepared to state my case for the $26. Any advice on the best phrasing to use would be greatly appreciated!
