I recently faced a significant change in my employment situation. After working for 20 years at a business in California, the owner sold the company, and we all received termination letters. The new owners promised to rehire everyone, but they drastically reduced our hours from five days a week to just two days. Now, I'm in a position where I need to apply for unemployment benefits. I'm unsure how my two weeks of work under the new owners will impact my application and how to best approach the situation. I’ve heard I might be eligible for a reduction in hours, but I’m concerned that if I quit due to the reduced hours, it could disqualify me. I plan to apply and see what happens, but I could really use some guidance.
