I had a group interview today for a sales associate position at Spirit Halloween, which is opening soon. They've said they would make hiring decisions later today, and if I don't hear back by tomorrow, I can assume I didn't get the job. Honestly, I'm feeling pretty pessimistic about it. I've been searching for my first job for three years without success, and I've tried every job-seeking strategy out there. During the interview, I noticed that all the other candidates had prior job experience, which made their answers more substantial compared to mine. The corporate website states they prefer candidates with 1-2 years of specialty store experience and strong customer service skills, which I clearly lack. The interviewer, who was the store manager instead of the district manager as expected, didn't seem enthusiastic about my responses. She didn't ask me any follow-up questions, while she engaged the others more. When she mentioned the possibility of hiring, her tone was different for me compared to the others, which felt discouraging. After the interview, I chatted with the other candidates, and we all seemed to get along well, sharing our thoughts about the interview. They reassured me that shorter answers can be effective, but my history of being ghosted or rejected leads me to doubt that. The manager took notes and said she would relay them to the district manager, so I guess I’ll find out tonight or tomorrow if I got the job. Right now, I’m bracing myself for another disappointment.
