I recently went through a grueling 8-week interview process for a senior analyst role at a mid-sized tech company. It started in June with a recruiter screen that went really well, followed by a lovely interview with the hiring manager. Then came a peer panel with three different people, which was followed by a 4-hour technical case study that I dedicated my entire weekend to. After that, I had a culture fit interview, and finally, last Wednesday, I had my 'final' talk with the VP of Operations. I was so prepared, having researched their latest quarterly reports and crafting specific answers. The VP even expressed excitement about potentially having me on board. However, it's now been ten days since that final call. I sent a polite follow-up email on Tuesday morning but received no response. Today, at 4:45 PM on a Friday, I got a generic, automated rejection email stating they chose to move forward with other candidates who 'more closely align with their needs.' There was no feedback or personal note from the recruiter I had been in contact with for two months. I feel completely drained and insulted after dedicating over 15 hours of my time to this process. It’s disheartening to see how the hiring system has become so impersonal and dehumanizing. My dad keeps suggesting I just walk into the office and hand them a resume, but I can't bring myself to explain how broken the system is. To anyone in a similar situation, just be cautious with your heart; these companies often show no loyalty to your time or effort.
