I recently found myself in a frustrating situation regarding a job I was excited about. After leaving my previous position to take a sabbatical, I was looking for a new opportunity in my specific field, which has limited openings. I had planned to take a break of no more than four months, but unexpected circumstances led me to take my job search more seriously. In May, I found a role that seemed promising, and both the company and I were enthusiastic about moving forward. We agreed that I would spend the following month getting acquainted with the work and starting with smaller tasks before transitioning to full-time. However, as of early August, I still haven't received a contract or any compensation for the work I've done. Despite attending meetings and contributing to discussions, the project I'm involved with is delayed due to pending funding. I've been told there might be a way to receive partial payment, but that hasn't materialized. It feels like I'm constantly chasing updates, and I worry that I'm coming off as pushy, even though I believe I'm justified in wanting clarity. Everything about the job seems legitimate, and I have connections who can vouch for the company, but the lack of communication has been stressful. I'm reaching my limit after months without stable work, and I'm seeking advice on how to navigate this situation. Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you handle it?
