I recently landed a job that I actually enjoy, working as a package delivery driver. After going through a tough time with an education I didn't like, trying and failing to start my own business, and dealing with burnout and mental health issues, this job feels like a breath of fresh air. The pay is low, but it covers my bills, and I appreciate the simplicity of it all. I’ve realized that I don’t want to be stuck in an office or overwork myself in another business venture; I just want to enjoy life. However, I’m struggling with how others perceive my job. My family constantly pushes me to aim higher, and when I mention my current role, people often assume it’s just a temporary gig. This perception is affecting my dating life too, as I face rejection for not having what many consider a 'proper' job or ambitious goals. It’s disheartening to feel looked down upon and to think that people might equate my job with low intelligence or a lack of education. I’m trying to cope with the criticism and the feelings of worthlessness that come with it. I often wonder if I’ve wasted my potential and if my family is right about me needing to do more. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s in a similar situation or has advice on how to handle this kind of critique.
