Feeling eager after a great interview and considering a follow-up strategy

I had an interview on Thursday for a position that I felt went really well. The interviewer mentioned that I would hear back by the middle of this upcoming week. I'm feeling eager and considering calling on Monday just to check in and show my interest in the role. However, I’m unsure if that’s a typical thing to do. Since I’m autistic, I sometimes struggle with understanding social cues and norms, so I wanted to get some advice on whether it’s appropriate to reach out before the expected timeline. I’ve seen mixed opinions on this. Some people suggest that it’s better to wait until Tuesday or later in the week to follow up, as Mondays can be hectic for hiring managers. Others have pointed out that if they said they would get back to me by mid-week, it’s best to respect that timeline and not risk coming off as impatient. I’m really excited about this opportunity and want to make a good impression, but I also don’t want to annoy the hiring team. I’m thinking of sending a thank you note instead, expressing my appreciation for their time and reiterating my enthusiasm for the position. I guess I’ll just have to be patient and see how things unfold.
