I had an interview last week for a position, but they decided not to hire me for that specific role. However, the HR person mentioned that there are other openings coming up and encouraged me to apply. Yesterday, she called to inform me that she spoke with the store manager about bringing me in for a different role that he suggested I apply for. She said the job listing would be taken down next Wednesday, and since I interviewed recently, I wouldn’t need to go through the interview process again. They plan to make a formal decision and contact me on Thursday. I'm wondering if this means they are likely to hire me for this position or if I should continue my job search just in case. I’m autistic and sometimes struggle with interpreting social cues, so I appreciate any advice.

I had an interview on Thursday for a position that I felt went really well. The interviewer mentioned that I would hear back by the middle of this upcoming week. I'm feeling eager and considering calling on Monday just to check in and show my interest in the role. However, I’m unsure if that’s a typical thing to do. Since I’m autistic, I sometimes struggle with understanding social cues and norms, so I wanted to get some advice on whether it’s appropriate to reach out before the expected timeline. I’ve seen mixed opinions on this. Some people suggest that it’s better to wait until Tuesday or later in the week to follow up, as Mondays can be hectic for hiring managers. Others have pointed out that if they said they would get back to me by mid-week, it’s best to respect that timeline and not risk coming off as impatient. I’m really excited about this opportunity and want to make a good impression, but I also don’t want to annoy the hiring team. I’m thinking of sending a thank you note instead, expressing my appreciation for their time and reiterating my enthusiasm for the position. I guess I’ll just have to be patient and see how things unfold.

I have an interview this afternoon for a new position, and I'm feeling a bit anxious about how to explain my reason for leaving my current job. I've only been at my current company for less than six months, and I suspect they'll ask why I'm looking to move on. Typically, I say I'm seeking a better opportunity, but that might imply I'm also likely to leave the new job for something else in the future. The truth is, I'm leaving because the work environment is incredibly toxic, and it's impacting my mental health. I don't think it's wise to mention that during the interview, though. I'm hoping to find a way to frame my reason for leaving in a more positive light without bashing my current employer.
