I recently found myself in a precarious situation after my company was acquired by a private equity firm. During a conversation, my manager advised me not to sell my house, which has left me feeling anxious about my job security. I can't help but wonder if she knows something I don't about potential layoffs or restructuring plans. My salary is higher than many of my colleagues, which adds to my concern that I could be an easy target for cost-cutting measures. I only just relocated to this city for this job, and the thought of losing my position after making such a big move is terrifying. My husband is planning to join me soon, leaving his job behind, and if I were to lose mine, we could both find ourselves unemployed in a new city, which would be financially devastating for us. The timing of my manager's comment, coupled with the acquisition, has left me feeling on edge. I’m not sure if I’m overthinking her words or if they were meant as a warning. I’ve reached out to others who have experienced similar situations, hoping to gain insight into whether I should be worried and what steps I should take next. If anyone has gone through a private equity acquisition, I would appreciate any advice or experiences you could share. It’s a tough spot to be in, and I’m trying to prepare for the worst while managing my anxiety.
