I was recently let go from my position at a tech startup where I worked as a software engineer. It came as a complete shock to me, as I had received positive feedback in my last performance review just a month prior. I had been working on a major project that was set to launch soon, and I felt confident in my contributions. However, during a routine meeting, my manager called me in and informed me that due to budget cuts, my position was being eliminated. I was blindsided and had no indication that my job was at risk. Now, I'm in the process of updating my resume and starting my job search, trying to navigate this unexpected turn in my career.
