I interviewed for a position recently and was told I would receive a call today regarding the orientation schedule. However, the call never came, and I'm feeling uncertain about what to do next. My background check has already been completed, so I thought I would hear back. Should I reach out to them today to inquire about the status, or would it be better to wait until Monday? I'm eager to get started but don't want to seem too pushy.

I recently interviewed for a part-time job that I'm really passionate about, and the interview went well. However, I'm currently feeling anxious because they're conducting a background check on me. When I was a juvenile, I had a deferred judgment and was on probation for a year, but I never went to juvie and completed my community service without any further issues. My court date is at the end of July, and after that, this will be removed from my record. I'm worried that since my court date hasn't happened yet, this might still show up in the background check. I'm not sure if they'll see just the deferred judgment or the specifics of what happened. I really want this job because it would give me valuable experience in my field and help me when I transfer from community college to a four-year university. Plus, I’d much rather work in a fun environment than be stuck at McDonald's. I'm just feeling paranoid about how this might affect my chances.

I had a job interview yesterday for a position I'm really excited about. The interviewer mentioned they would call me later that day or today with an update. Now I'm feeling a bit anxious because if I don't hear from them by around 4 or 4:30, I'm not sure if I should reach out or just wait it out. I don’t want to seem too eager, but I also don’t want to be left hanging. I’ve read that it’s common for companies to ghost candidates, so I’m trying to prepare myself for that possibility. Some advice I've seen suggests sending a thank you email on Monday if I don’t hear back, which I think I might do. I just want to make sure I handle this the right way.

I recently graduated high school and I'm on the hunt for a part-time job to gain some independence and save up for college expenses. I've been looking for about three weeks now and have interviewed at three places—two yesterday and one today. I'm feeling a bit anxious about whether I'll get hired since I'm new to this job search process. I have a cousin who has worked at an Albertsons for four years, and I’m considering asking him for a reference. I’m curious about how that works and if the current state of the economy might impact my chances of getting hired there. After applying, I followed up with a few places, and they mentioned they are still reviewing applications and scheduling interviews as they go. I’m not sure if this means they aren’t interested in me or if I should just be patient. How long should I wait before following up again? One of the places I applied to said they’re really busy with the World Cup and will start interviewing afterward. I’d like to know when the World Cup ends so I can time my follow-up accordingly. I did fill out an application there in person, so I’m hoping for the best!

I have a job interview coming up with Nordstrom's Rack and an eyeglasses store for a sales associate or stock assistant position. This is my first job after high school, and while I'm feeling pretty confident, I know I'll be competing against candidates with degrees. I consider myself conventionally attractive and approachable, and I have a solid knowledge of fashion and sales, which I think will help me stand out. I've spoken with both managers, and they seem open to hiring a diverse equity and inclusion (DEI) candidate, which is promising. I'm also contemplating how to style my hair for the interview. As a Black individual, I'm debating whether to wear my afro or use product to enhance my curl pattern. I want to make a good impression, so I'm considering all options. I shared some outfit ideas, but I received mixed feedback. Some suggested avoiding certain fits, while others thought my choices were good. I'm leaning towards wearing my afro, but I'm still unsure. Overall, I'm excited about the opportunities ahead!

I just graduated high school and I'm on the hunt for a part-time job. I have two interviews lined up next week—one for a stock position at Nordstrom Rack and another as a sales associate at an eyeglasses store. I filled out the applications stating that I was 18, even though I turn 18 just 11 days after the interviews. I’m a bit unsure if I should mention this during the interviews or if it will even come up. I’ve received some advice saying that as long as I turn 18 before starting work, I should be fine. I plan to focus on showcasing my skills and fit for the roles instead of worrying too much about my age. Fingers crossed for the interviews!

I recently graduated from high school and I'm on the hunt for my first part-time job. I've got interviews lined up with Nordstrom Rack for a position in the back of the store and with an eyeglasses store as a sales associate. I'm feeling a bit unsure about how to make a strong impression during these interviews. While I've participated in extracurricular activities, I don't have any standout achievements to highlight. I'm hoping to gather some tips on how to stand out as a candidate. One suggestion I received was to research the eyeglasses and the history of the store, which I plan to do.
