I recently found myself in a bit of a predicament regarding my resume. I was working at ABC Company until the end of June, but I quit that job to take a new position. Unfortunately, I was fired from that new job after just three weeks. To avoid any complications, I decided not to include that short-lived position on my resume and instead listed ABC Company as my current employer. Now, I'm facing a one and a half month employment gap, and while I've been getting interviews, I have two coming up next week. One of the companies I’m interviewing with conducts background checks for new hires, and I'm worried about how this might affect my chances if they discover the discrepancy. I’ve read mixed opinions on this. Some people say that employers usually don’t go through the hassle of contacting previous employers due to the liability involved, while others warn against lying about employment dates since it can be easily verified. I’m just trying to figure out if I’m putting myself in a risky position by not being completely honest on my resume.

I just got fired from my new accounting and payroll job after only two weeks. They cited performance and communication issues, but I honestly thought I was doing fine. I was really shocked by the decision and now I'm feeling pretty embarrassed about the whole situation. It feels like I wasn't given a fair chance, especially since one of my colleagues mentioned that it took him months to learn the system. I'm at a loss for what to do next.
