I recently received an offer for a full-time position at the manufacturing company where I've been working as a temp filler operator. I put in over 720 hours to qualify for full hire, which took me about a month. During my time there, I worked the 3-11 AM shift and learned multiple roles, including stand-up forklift operation and various production areas like the bottle room and packaging. I’ve been putting in at least 50 hours a week, sacrificing time with my daughter to help out because the team lacks structure. When I started, I was told the base pay for a filler operator was $24, and I was expecting at least $25 or $26 given my extensive training and knowledge across the production floor. However, when I received my offer letter, I was shocked to see that my pay would remain at $22/hour. To make matters worse, a coworker who only knows the packaging area was offered $23/hour, despite me having learned significantly more and already surpassing 1000 hours. I submitted my application for full hire three weeks before him, and he got his offer the same week he applied. I’m feeling really frustrated and disappointed with this situation. I know my worth and the effort I’ve put in, and it’s hard to understand why I would be offered the same pay as my temp position after all I’ve done. I’m questioning whether I should accept this offer or push back for a better rate.
