Milestones, reflections, and progress updates connected as your layoff-to-next-step story unfolds.

  1. 1

I currently work for a large tech company where I play a crucial role in my team and department. The job offers great flexibility and a comfortable work environment, but there's always the looming threat of layoffs, which is a reality in the industry. Recently, I was approached with a new opportunity at a smaller company that focuses on a niche AI-proof industry. After a quick interview process, I accepted the job, thinking it would be a good move for my career growth. The new role is more fast-paced and requires in-person work, and I'm still unsure about the level of flexibility it will offer. However, shortly after accepting the position, I learned that my current company has new growth opportunities available, and my bosses have expressed that they would welcome me back with open arms if I decided to return. Now, I'm torn about whether to go back to my current job or stick with the new one. I know that going back after resigning can sometimes create awkwardness, but my boss reassured me that it wouldn't be an issue since they really need me. I would have to swallow my pride a bit, but it could be a temporary situation as long as I continue to perform well. Has anyone else ever gone back after resigning, and how did that experience turn out?
