I recently received a job offer for a news video editor position, but I was caught off guard and verbally accepted it without fully considering the pay. The offer is actually four dollars less than what I was making at my previous job as a news photographer, and the new role involves significantly more work. I'm wondering if it's acceptable to negotiate the salary after receiving the written offer but before signing it. I feel uneasy about possibly jeopardizing the offer, but I also don't want to settle for less than I deserve. I've seen advice suggesting that until I sign, I can still negotiate, but I'm concerned about the risk of them rescinding the offer if I go back on my word.
