I had a final stage interview today for a position, and it took a strange turn when the interviewer, who was quite rude overall, asked me about my political affiliation. I was taken aback and started questioning whether this was even legal. I’m curious if anyone else has faced a similar situation. I’ve heard mixed opinions; some say it’s not illegal since there’s no federal law against it, but there might be state laws that apply. Regardless, I'm left wondering if I even want to work in an environment where such questions are asked. It feels like a red flag to me.
