I started working at a corporate desk job about a year ago, and I've been facing a tough situation with a senior coworker who initially acted as my mentor. Over time, however, her behavior has changed drastically. She has become increasingly rude and belittling, making me feel inadequate about my work. Despite my manager being satisfied with my performance and often complimenting me, this coworker seems to take pleasure in finding faults in everything I do. Now, she has started to micromanage me, sending me messages about my pace and trying to dictate my tasks. The last straw was when she emailed me, cc'ing our manager, about a task she thinks I was late on, even though it was out of my control. It felt like a public reprimand, and I can't shake the feeling that she might be trying to undermine me to get me laid off. I truly enjoy this job and the benefits it offers, along with the supportive nature of my other colleagues. I’ve even started updating my CV just in case things escalate. I’m at a loss about how to handle this situation and would appreciate any advice on how to assert myself without causing further conflict.
