I've been in my payroll role at my current company for about a year now, and I'm currently interviewing for a new payroll position that offers significantly higher pay and better benefits. However, my current company just completed a major migration to a new payroll system, and we're still dealing with various issues that have required everyone to put in long hours—I've even worked from 8:00 AM until almost 11:00 PM recently due to this. I genuinely care about my team and feel guilty about the thought of leaving them to handle the aftermath of this migration alone. It feels like I would be letting them down after all the hard work we've put in together. Yet, I can't ignore the fact that I've been feeling underpaid and unsupported in my role. I'm trying to consider my long-term career goals, financial stability, and benefits, but the guilt about the timing keeps creeping back in. I'm curious if anyone else has faced a similar situation. If you've left during a significant project or system implementation, how did you cope with the guilt? Did your team understand your decision, or did you end up regretting the timing?
