Today, I officially submitted my two weeks' notice at my current job. I’m leaving my position as a full-time employee at a retail company because I found a new job that offers better hours and benefits, which will help me align my schedule with my boyfriend's. Despite knowing this is a positive change for me, I can't shake off the extreme guilt I feel about leaving. I moved to a new state just a few months ago and struggled to find work for four long months, burning through my savings and borrowing money just to get by. It was a tough time, and I was relieved when I finally landed this job. My manager has been incredibly supportive, often mentioning how my presence has allowed her to spend more time with her family. Now, as I prepare to leave, I feel like I'm letting her down. I know I’m making the right choice for my future, but sitting here at my desk, I feel nauseous and overwhelmed by guilt. I wish I could just focus on the positives of this new opportunity instead of feeling like the worst person in the world for leaving a job where I was appreciated. If anyone has advice on how to cope with this guilt, I would really appreciate it.
