I recently found myself in a tough spot regarding my job situation. Back in May, I took a part-time position at a local company, working five days a week for four hours each day at $22 per hour. My intention was to gain some experience while I finished up my graduate studies, and I knew this role was temporary as it was to cover for someone on maternity leave. However, as I cut back my hours to focus on school, my income took a hit. Fortunately, one of my managers has been supportive and has offered me extra hours, but those come in the form of long 12-hour shifts, which aren't guaranteed. Recently, I received an offer from Target for a seasonal role as a guest advocate. The catch is that the scheduling is uncertain since it's a seasonal position, but I would be working morning shifts. This could mean juggling shifts at Target with my current job and school, which feels overwhelming. I'm torn between waiting for potential hours at my current job, where my manager hinted at a possible full-time position, and taking the more stable opportunity at Target for some extra income. I really want to go full-time, but I’m unsure if I should take the plunge with Target or hold out for my current role.
