I recently graduated with a general business degree and was excited to start my career in HR, especially after an internship at city hall that I really enjoyed. I accepted a job offer and am set to start on Monday. However, I just received a call for a second interview for a recruitment coordinator position at a community college in my city. The catch is that this college job pays at least $4,000 more annually, and potentially $6,000 more if they offer the maximum salary. I'm feeling really torn about what to do. Should I stick with the HR job I just accepted, or should I consider jumping ship if I get the college job? I’m worried about how unprofessional it would look to leave after just a week or two, but the financial aspect is a huge factor for me right now since I'm juggling multiple jobs to make ends meet. The HR position is supposed to be a great starting point for my career, but the company is small and the benefits aren’t that great. I’m also concerned about my resume looking scattered with my background in healthcare, a business degree, an HR internship, and now potentially recruiting students. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I could really use some advice on how to navigate this dilemma.
